Spaz Talks with Jessica Hanson

So in the world of Myspace, FaceBook and online networking and blogging, I find in my time browsing, that some people are worth an extra click. Now I'm always on the prowl for talent and artists and those who fall in between. It's seldom that I find someone newsworthy. But low, and behold, there's someone whose out there pounding the pavement and seemingly working as hard as I am. The outcome: a late night chat of bi-coastal proportions.

Online marketing wiz and events promoter, (who has a reality show in the works as well) Jessica Hanson sits and have some chat stew, with yours truly. She offers some insight into her line of work as well as ways to go about seeking your own marketing pro. Check it out and be sure to contact her and check out her pages and profiles.

jessica hanson

Spaz : Now explain to all the readers what it is that you do and hope to do in the future, and feel free to list accomplishments

Jessica Hanson: Well after having done a lot of different things in the music industry I now am a booking agent for bands, plus I work in online marketing for movies/celebs, I am a club and event promoter, and do promotional modeling once in awhile as well.

Spaz : Who have you worked with that we would have heard of?

Jessica Hanson :In booking I work with NYCs Ten Feet Deep who have opened for Avril Lavigne as well as Jonathan Clay who's music can be heard on several MTV shows, with online marketing I've worked with celeb photographer Markus Klinko who's shot Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and many more, in event promo I do the hottest events such as the Sean John fragrance party, and in promo modeling I've worked at events such as Tony Hawks Boom Boom Huck Jam tour.

Spaz : Ok, those are defintely some names we recognize, I believe you recently blogged about Eminems Comeback right? Are You an Eminem fan or look to work with him in the future?

Jessica Hanson: I've always been an Em fan, and would absolutely love to work with him someday, in any way at all. Hopefully its some day very soon. He's an amazing man. There was some talk of me getting on the team but that may have all been crap with they way people talk...

Spaz : Now I have to ask this how do you feel about his position and sometimes hateful slurs against homosexuals?

Jessica Hanson : I think that's his image....to hate gays, hate women, etc... Obviously he doesn't really hate women so who's to say he really hates gays? If he can do a song with Elton John I think that should show people something.....

Spaz : You have a point but he does come off as a misogynist I blame it on his mother but that doesn't make it right, and Elton John. .. I'm sure you know that this bizness is about marketing yourself as best as possible, but moving on. . .

Spaz : Do you look to promote for all kinds of talent and entertainers, a lot of my listeners have things going on and may not be savvy enough to get the word out, I mean even myself as a podcaster I'm always looking to spread the word, any advice on how to get a leg up?

Jessica Hanson : For bands I only work with pop/rock artists on my agency but with marketing I work with anyone. I'd say if you're a band get as many fans in your area on your own before you start looking for an agent. For advice on people wanting promo as in online marketing I'd say be prepared to spend some sort of budget. The majority of people for some reason, think and want us to work for free. If you come in with an idea of what you want to do and with any sort of budget, even $100/week, you can find help.

Spaz : Yes I'm in the middle of fundraising for my podcast to better the quality of the show, and I do believe everyone should know that it costs to be the boss! It takes money to make money.

Spaz: So what about some future endeavors tell me more about this reality show?

Jessica Hanson: We currently have a reality show in development based on my life, and everything I do for a living. Pretty much showing how there's not enough hours in the day and my struggle sometimes to make that work.

Spaz: Is it going to be on YouTube as like a web series or is that part still in the works as well?

Jessica Hanson: No, this will be aimed for television but we might have some extras just for the youtubers.

Spaz : Of course (laughs) Well Good Luck with that project. . .and speaking of TV what shows are a must-see for you?

Jessica Hanson: I absolutely love Dexter. I'm also a big fan of The L Word, Entourage, MXC, and Rescue Me.

Spaz : Nice Picks, ahh the L word we love that one over here, Who's your favorite L word Character? When I say this I mean Who Would You Go gay for?

Jessica Hanson: (laughs) I really love Shane. I think she'd turn any woman gay.

Spaz: Yea Yea All Straight Women would go gay for Shane its starting to get sickening (I feign disgust)

Spaz : So along with all the work you're doing you blog too right?

Jessica Hanson: Right. Yea I have a blog on MTV/VH1 shows and I have cast from each show as guests each week. Some are horrible and think they're God for being on a reality show and some are really nice and fun to work with.

Spaz: That's cool anyone you interview that actually has star quality?

Jessica Hanson: Hmm, well I think Boris from I Want to Work for Diddy has drive, Im very impressed with Shane Cee from Gs to Gents and his real transformation, and I think Shelley from Paris Hiltons Bff is awesome for standing up for herself on the show and not letting the show change her.

Spaz: Well its good to know that some of these people will actually get smething out of this, I think it gets to a point where they become ok with exploiting themselves at someone elses leisure

Spaz: Now as a Club Promoter, does ur life sometimes feel like one big party, or do you still have a big sense of "I'm at work" ?

Jessica Hanson: Yeah I don't attend the events I promote a lot just because I do feel like I have to work more and not enjoy the party. My guestlists are full of the hottest people in Hollywood, so when I promote an event to them everyone knows its gonna be a hot crowd. But ocassionally Ill show up to see my people (smiles)

Jessica Hanson: oh yea about club hosting... If any clubs across the country want me to come host an event just let me know. My rates are very reasonable and I promote the event on my page as well.

Spaz : Ok so you don't only work with the Hollywood Elite?

Jessica Hanson: for club and event promo I'm picky, but for me to actually go and host an event I'm flexible to do that but they won't be sent out to my hollywood guestlist unless of course they're for that.

Spaz: And serious inquiries would contact you via myspace?

Jessica Hanson: Yes, They'd just be promoted on my myspace page instead of to my guestlist.

Spaz: Oh ok, I understand , certain events are for certain people

Jessica Hanson: Yes, exactly. Well this was fun . . .
